Tip of the Day – Use Passive Solar Energy

Now that it’s getting colder outside (in the Northeast at least), heating efficiently and keeping heat in your house is important. Here’s a simple way to increase your indoor heat without increasing your energy use.

Open the curtains and blinds in your house in the morning, and close them at night. It’s as simple as that. Take it a step further by using insulated curtains to keep drafts out and heat in.

According to Real Simple, if every American made an effort to launder less — cutting out just one load of laundry a week per household — we’d save enough water to fill seven million swimming pools each year.

So if it looks clean, and it smells clean, call it clean and wear it again. Consider hanging worn clothes out on your clothesline to freshen them up between wearings.
