Green Up Your Teeth

Posted on August 20, 2007 by Allie

Finding a way to green your daily rituals can make a big difference. It’s a little change that adds up every day. So here are some ways to make brushing your teeth a greener activity.

Use a natural toothpaste like Kiss My Face Organic Whitening Toothpaste, or make your own.

When your current toothbrush has worn out, look for a brush that’s both recyclable and made from recycled materials, like Recycline’s Preserve Toothbrush. The Preserve Toothbrush had a past life as a Stoneyfield Farm yogurt container, and will be reincarnated as plastic lumber once you’re done with it. Or look for a toothbrush that has replaceable heads, so the body can be reused over and over again.

And, make sure to turn the water off! Leaving the water running while you brush your teeth wastes an average of five gallons of water. That’s 3,650 gallons a year per person.
