Clean Your Microwave Without Harsh Chemicals

Unless you wipe it down after every use, microwave crud builds up fast. And, of course, every time you use the microwave, the food splatters get a little more baked on and stubborn. Here’s a simple, inexpensive, and eco-friendly way to clean and deodorize your microwave.
Fill a microwave safe cup with water and a teaspoon of baking soda. Microwave for two to three minutes. Take the cup out (carefully!). Wipe the inside of the microwave with a damp cloth. The hot water mixture loosens all of the baked on grime, and it will come clean easily.
You can use what’s left in the cup to scrub your sink.

Oh geez. I just saw this in the Tip of the Day box, Allie. I had no idea you’d written about this when I wrote my (much wordier) version of a very similar tip for my November post! Oh well. If I didn’t see it in 2007, perhaps a lot of other Greenists didn’t either.
