An Eco-Friendly Host/Hostess Gift

Going somewhere for the holidays?  If you’re looking for something to bring to your host or hostess, here are a few ideas.

Wine is the old standby, but make it a more eco-friendly gift by going with an organic wine.  Not sure how to pick one?  Consult the Organic Wine Journal, or check out this list of organic vineyards.

Sweet Earth Organics has a great selection of organic chocolates and treats.  Their fair trade, organic peppermint hot chocolate sounds like a great way to end the evening on a sweet note.   Local Harvest also has a section for chocolates and desserts.

If you want to go with something homemade, consider making Dianne’s Maple Pumpkin Bread using organic ingredients.

Or put together a basket of some Ecover dish soap, all purpose cleaner and recycled paper towels, and present with an offer to help your host clean up.

  1. I like the idea of clean-up materials as a hostess gift. If you don’t do it properly, it could be tacky, but if you do it well, I bet it’s totally appreciated!

  2. Hahaha. True. You have to be careful to give that gift well, so it doesn’t come off as “The food was delightful, but I found cobwebs in the corners and your kitchen counter was sticky.”
