More info on Diapers

Posted on March 11, 2009 by Allie

If you’re interested in reading more about the disposable vs. reusable issue, here’s a great article that debates the pros and cons of each, and discusses the implications regarding health, cost, environment, etc.

And, of course, there’s always going diaper-free.  But again, I’m not a mom, so I don’t really know anything about this.  Have any of you tried the diaper-free method?

  2. My parents did the diaper free on us part of the time. But we lived in the jungle of South America so most people did that out of necessity (couldn’t afford diapers).

One way to help also with the environmental impact of cloth and disposable diapers is to potty train your kids sooner. I know people who hvae 3-4 year old that aren’t potty trained yet. My mom started potty training us as soon as we could sit up. We were mostly trianed by 18 months.

  3. Wow! I had no idea that a child could be trained that way!

I wonder how equivalent the hassle of changing diapers is to the hassle of hauling your kid to a potty when they signal. I bet it would come out (heh) pretty evenly!

I am also curious how the kids do with potty training. I bet they have no problem by the time they can properly walk themselves to their potty!

And think of all the diapers not bought! Aside from being eco-friendly as all get out, that saves a lot of money!
